One local leader of Bangladesh's main opposition party was killed and 20 others were injured on Saturday in a bomb attack in this violence-hit southwestern city, witnesses and police said.
Witnesses said a bomb hurled at a market complex where the offices of the main opposition of Awami League are located exploded late on Saturday, sending people running for shelter.
Police said local Awami League leader Quamrul Islam, 50, was killed and the injured were being treated at different hospitals of the city.
Of the 20 wounded in the attack, four were stated to be in serious condition, hospital officials said.
On Thursday another local leader of the party was killed after unidentified assailaints hurled bombs as he travelled on a rickshaw.
