Bush to visit Australia in October
The US President George W Bush will visit Australia in October.

It was thought the US President might come this year but a decision was only made in the last few days.

It is understood it will be a very quick trip, with Mr Bush arriving in Australia after the APEC leaders meeting in Bangkok late next month.

It is expected Mr Bush will visit Sydney and Canberra, and it is understood he may address the Federal Parliament.

I wonder how many frequent flyers points John Howard, Tony Blair and Dumya have clocked up? Anything to avoid facing their own people...

2. Did you guys know...
that John Howard had arranged for his son, Richard, to work as an intern in the White House? When the Aussie media found out about it, Howard knocked it on the head.

Being a grub is one thing. Aspiring to be a grub is another thing altogether.

17. the only problem with that.
Howard would reply with "unfortunately, yes."

out of the world's leaders, Howard is probably philosophically closest to Bush.

23. I think his first statement will be...
"Howdy! Ain't this where that Terminator fella is from? He sure talks funny...I would never arm-wrestle him (laughs goofily). Got any pretzels?"

4. He's probably going there to see if toilets
really do flush the counter-clockwise. I would hope that our Aussie friends give * the "welcome" he deserves.

6. That's why the Simpsons went there!
From snpp.com:

Bart: Yeah, do the toilets go backwards in here?
Ward: No. To combat homesickness, we've installed a device that
makes them swirl the correct American way.
he flushes the toilet
it swirls one way, then a machine kicks in and makes it swirl the other way
Homer: (singing) Sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing...*weeps*

7. Bush is not curious enough...
to even wonder about toilets flushing backwards.

But, he could get lost in the outback!

24. It won't help!
The Australians have already announced they will not be sending people into Iraq for "police work". I don't know if this means their troop will be leaving (or have already left?) This I heard on the telly a few days ago. He is probably going to try and change Howard's mind but it won't help.

He'll get stuck at immigration.

Seriously though, if he comes to Oz and I'm within 1000km I will do my utmost to go and protest his presence.

27. One of the news bulletins was saying...
that it would coincide with the Rugby World Cup and Whistle Ass is apparently a rugby fan.

God, the idea of * receiving the "adulation" of 100,000 fans makes my mouth water. It would make up for those free speech zones in one night.
