Rep. Obey (Wi.) demands Bush oust Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz
Edited on Sun Sep-07-03 01:37 PM by MinnFats
Dave Obey, Northern Wisconsin congressman, (I had the pleasure of voting for him twice), called Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz "raving romantics" in their conduct of the war, etc.

http://wcco.com/apwisconsin/WI--BushComplaint-kn/resources_news_html

a snippet:

Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz ``have made repeated and serious miscalculations, miscalculations that have been extremely costly to the American people in terms of lives lost, degradation of our military and intelligence capability to defend against terrorists in countries outside Iraq, isolation from our traditional allies and unexpected demands on our budget that are crowding our other priorities,'' Obey wrote.

* to resign or be impeached and prosecuted. Then we get rid of everybody.
Too bad the legislative Branch has given up all their power or won't exercise it.

6. I'm very suspicious of the word "romantic"
man, does that ever conjure up the wrong images. Romantic means dreamy, fantasizing, I'm assuming here in a romantic way. This implies a man or a woman who tapes up loving messages on the fridge, writes in a diary, and goes to sleep with lovely thoughts.

Nothing could be further from the truth with these people. These men are ruthless, calculating, liars, will stoop to any depth to see their goals met.

At the same time, they're prone to blundering, miscalculating, totally misjudging situations, so I think that's what Rep. Obey meant.

However, let's not ruin a nice word like 'romantic'.

7. I love Dave!
He doesn't mince words. When something needs to be said you can count on him.
He said that he heard negative comments when he was back in Wisconsin over break, and I was one of those voices. His wife, Joan, talked to us for quite awhile at a fund raiser that was held at the local Budwiser distributors. (Joan and my mother went to school together)

10. I do too....
I have admired David Obey from afar...out here in CA...for many years and posted here, often, that I saw him as a viable Vice Presidential choice.
Early on, though, I was reminded by an overwhelming response from Wisconsinites, that they want him there.

8. I so agree!
I'd include Condi Rice, as well. If her job is to be the expert on National Security she should have been gone about 2 years ago.

I'll write to this Congressman and to my own.

Thank you, Rep Obey.
