Americans React to Bush Speech
"We can't spend enough to protect innocent people."
-snip-
"Personally, I think the American people need to understand it wouldn't benefit us in any way at all to just pick up and leave Iraq," he said. "People have already sacrificed their lives to liberate it. It would be a waste, on top of the fact that most of the people in Iraq want us to be there to help them rebuild their country."
-snip-
"We can't really stop now. We've got to make sure we don't have another Sept. 11 around here."

13. Can anyone even imagine what would be happening to Dems and Clinton
after an embarrassing speech like the one Bush gave last night without addressing WMDs, security, and the fact that Iraq...which before our invasion had only Saddam to deal with...now it has terrorists from around the world? Can you even in your wildest imagination fathom what the pundits would be saying about Clinton after such a speech with total chaos in Iraq and the shitty economy at home?

2. Jeezus, it reads like The Onion's man-on-the-street interviews

"We can't spend enough to protect innocent Ba'athists."

"I think the American people need to understand it wouldn't benefit us in any way to just pick up and leaeve Iraq, unless you count soldiers' lives and your tax dollars"

"We can't really stop now. We've got to make sure we don't have another September 11 around here even if we have to nuke every last Muslim in the world."

5. anyone else dizzy from the spin and circular reasoning?
Watched "THIS WEEK" yesterday, almost choked on my coffee at George Wills spin on why we are in Iraq.

Wills said we are in Iraq to make the world safe.... but that was the spin 3 excuses ago

First we went into Iraq to make the world safe from Saddam and WMDs,
after we "lost Saddam" and no WMD's were found ---

we were told we were in Iraq to liberate the Iraqis, then we were in Iraq to bring democracy to the middle east...

now that Iraq is a mess and becoming the ground zero for uniting terrorists we are told we went into Iraq to make the world safe....

but but but, Saddam is still on the loose and no WMD's have been found...

6. Oh. lordy. lord!
We must give up our search for jobs, leave our careers in the toilet, spend our pensions and IRAs just to survive, border on starvation, eke out meager livings just so's we can keep THE MAN from looking like he's as f**ked up as we already know he is. Keep it up, Georgie porgie--the U.S. will be as bad as a third world country when we finally get you the hell out of office. And then you'll blame the NEW Democrat in office, saying it's all THEIR fault. Lousy, bloody arsed chimp.

9. Lord Farquaad address his subjects:
"Some of you may die, but it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make."*

*even if it takes every last dollar of your pension, Social Security, Medicare...

...unless of course you're in the top 1%, in which case your wartime sacrifice will be to accept the heavy burden of yet another tax break.

11. And it's one, two, three, What are we fighting for ?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn,
Next stop is Vietnam Iraq;
And it's five, six, seven,
Open up the pearly gates,
Well there ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die.

I think I've heard this song somewhere before.
