Jeb's Job Could Affect Brother George's Presidential Run
By Brendan Farrington Associated Press Writer
Published: Sep 8, 2003

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - President Bush doesn't want a repeat of the 2000 election when Florida's vote was so close it took five weeks to determine a winner.
So he'll be counting on his brother, Gov. Jeb Bush, to help carry the state by more than the 537 much-disputed votes that earned him a victory three years ago.

While Jeb Bush was an active fund raiser on his brother's behalf in 2000 - as he will be Tuesday when the brothers attend campaign events in Jacksonville and Fort Lauderdale - some observers felt Jeb wasn't as visible as a campaigner.

Despite the importance the Republican Party is placing on Florida in 2004, Jeb Bush said he's not changing anything - not the way he manages Florida and not the way he plans to campaign for George.

"I'm going to help my brother, but I'm going to do it in the proper context of the fact that I've got a job to do," the governor said. "I know my brother understands that because he's got a job to do as well and he was governor of a state. He knows you can't spend all your time on political endeavors." (snip/...)

5. Jeb hasn't got a chance

...this state is going down bigtime. The economy is collapsing. He responded to a constitutional amendment to decrease classroom size by making the third year of high school optional rather than hire more teachers. He keeps a very low profile because he's hated here.

His political career is over. I think he knows it. There is no way this country will ever elect another Bush.

6. Oh, I'm sure the margin will be much larger than 537 in 2004
Jeb's good friends at Diebold will make sure of that.

7. Ya, I suggest that Floridians who are sick and tired of the whole thing
do two things NOW!

1) Get registration forms and make sure everyone you see registers! Perferably taking it in person rather than mailing. If mail the registration, then the first year they are not allowed to vote by absentee!

2) Organize NOW to set up a HUGE load of protestors in front of Jebbie's home and capitol where he operates EVERY DAY from now until election 2004 dissing both lil shrubbites.

I'm so sick and tired and ready to get this over with...one way or the other!

8. AP acknowledging the "much-disputed votes"
I'm pretty amazed to see this sentence:

So he'll be counting on his brother, Gov. Jeb Bush, to help carry the state by more than the 537 much-disputed votes that earned him a victory three years ago.

Since when did AP notice that there was still a dispute over the votes in Florida?

10. I was suprised when Jeb-bro was re-elected
given that he is a sleaze of the first swamp water...and native Floridians should know enough of old swampy to see it. But can he deliver W's second term like he took care of himself? (And his brother, like we're so dumb we didn't notice?)

Things would have to be far more f-d up, pardon my anglo-saxon, than I have suspected. I know he and Clown-ho (my own tender rhyming name for Ms. Harris which I believe encapsulates her chosen fashion *image*) have finageled to reform without fixing the voting situation in Fl, which has more to do with *fixing* without reform. I would not be surprised if thousands of demographically undesirable afro-americans ae still off the voter rolls. But can he deliver? In other words...what did Jeb do, that voters should remember him?

The key is...what has the Democratic Party done down in this area? If they've driven voter registration up in the minority population, if they can push the issue on the economy, jobs, how Jeb and Bush...both, haven't done anything for Florida...then they might make it so that, in unfixed, not fiddled figures, it can't even been close.

Unless there really are voting-machine fairies messing with the works. But I say looking at real life issues--Floridians didn't get the best benefit of these tax-cuts, didn't see beter leadership, aren't getting anything special.

If Jeb delivers..we know, encore...it's fixed.
