But state Democrats may still seek partial count today

OLYMPIA -- Count them all, or don't count them at all.
After a weeklong silence about whether she'd demand a full or partial hand recount of the 2.8 million votes cast for governor in the November election, Democrat Christine Gregoire said yesterday she would support only a full statewide recount.
Democrats must decide what kind of recount they will request by 5 p.m. today and provide a large down payment. But despite the candidate's statement, Democratic Party leaders said if they didn't raise enough money for a full recount, they'd demand a hand recount in selectively chosen precincts.
If they pick up enough votes in those districts to reverse the outcome, the state must then continue hand-counting the remaining districts -- all at taxpayer expense.
