WASHINGTON — The White House acknowledged Monday that it substantially underestimated the cost of rebuilding Iraq and that even the additional $87 billion it was seeking from a wary Congress would fall far short of what is needed for postwar reconstruction.

Administration officials said President Bush's emergency spending request — which would push the U.S. budget deficit above the half-trillion-dollar mark for the first time — still left a reconstruction funding gap of as much as $55 billion.

2. 87B : 67B as downpayment Halliburton/Bechtel contracts...
8B for Iraq, 1B to Afghanastan. 10B under the table for little man bushie's campaign. This is not about rebuilding Iraq, this is about giving more campaign dollars to little man bush.

They lied about weapons of mass destruction. Now they are forced to say that it's for terra.

The nazis didn't want the UN and other nations involved, now they are begging for their help. Why? Only because they are failing in this war and they need others to blame (little man bushie's habit), and so they will blame the mess of this war on the UN.

Intresting comment from my republican pissed-off hubby:
Bush has made us weaker. We may have the greatest nuclear bombs in the world but we have no foot soldiers. So when do we use our nuclear bombs to regain our military superiority? The ginny is out of the bottle and no one out there will be fearing the US, unless we nuke other countries.

3. "No foot soldiers"
Well, there was always a catch when the Republicans boasted that they owned the military, when they knew they relied heavily on Americans who benefited from Democratic policies.

The military needs to do some soul-searching. If they don't support our Democratic presidents during times of peace, why would they expect Democratic enlisted men to support them in a war that was instigated by mean-spirited Republican values?

5. Don't forget Tom Delay's infamous remarks...
"Nothing is more important in the face of war than cutting taxes."

I continue to be dumbfounded.

6. I called my horrible Senator and my excellent Congressman

I told their message-takers that there needs to be MANY strings attached to this. Especially because we all know that a supplemental request is inevitable.

7. I could have told you this would happen.
Of course they are going to come back for more and they’ll keep coming back till they’re thrown out of office. This isn’t a war it’s a gravy train for the BFEE. 87 Billion is an awful lot of money but I’ll bet money they’re back before next summer.

9. I think that all Dems will vote for the 87B..
with strings attached of course, and not immediately. The problem is that 87B will not solve the problem and somehow, littleman bushie will have to make another demand for cash, sooner or later. Drag the money debate for a couple of months. The bushies will not come up with a 'closure' to the war. They don't have one. The American people will get real angry, and our already angry allies will take steps even further back away from bushie.

I listen to my republican hubby. I can understand how the repigs are very angry. They don't want to say angry at little man bushie yet but it's coming.
