Musharraf: Iraq war has made world 'less safe'

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The U.S.-led invasion of Iraq was a mistake that has made the world a more dangerous place, but a swift withdrawal would make matters worse, Pakistan's president said this weekend.

"I think it's less safe," Gen. Pervez Musharraf said on CNN's "Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer." Asked whether he considered the invasion a mistake, the Pakistani leader said, "With hindsight, yes. We have landed ourselves in more trouble, yes."

Musharraf was in Washington on Saturday for a brief meeting with President Bush. The two discussed the issue of terrorism, bilateral concerns, relations between India and Pakistan and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. (Full story)

a whole bunch of people around the world knew that the Iraq invasion was a mistake before it happened. We knew that it would make the world a more dangerous place. That's why we took to the streets. Of course, the freepers who spat at us knew better-they even said Bush was the Second Coming.

I don't see how the US staying in Iraq is going to make matters better. It seems to be making matters worse. What is needed, imho, is for the Iraqi government to ask for a coalition of other nations, predominantly Islamic, to come and help establish some stability.

Pervez Musharraf has a big mouth. And he doesn't seem to be shaking in his boots. No cowering for him.

Fact is: Musharraf is Our Kind of Guy. He's a dictator. He blasted his way in with a military coup. Noam Chomsky traced the 9/11 terrorists to Pakistan. They didn't come from there (they were Saudis) but they trained in Pak and they had all kinds of other connections with that country.

These guys are nothing if they are not brazen. Musharraf boldly demands 2 ultra-expensive fighter jets, and he got them. He asked for his debt to be written off which I believe was around $2 billion. King George waved his hand, and poof it was gone.
