China to buy 23 Airbus A320 planes

BEIJING, Dec. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- China agreed to purchase 23 Airbus A320 family aircraft valued at about US$1.2 billion.

China Aviation Supplies Import & Export Group Corporation and the world's No 1 commercial aircraft manufacturer Airbus signed a general terms agreement for the purchase in Beijing yesterday.

Li Hai, president of the Chinese company, said his company has enjoyed an excellent co-operative relationship with Airbus for many years.

"Through our joint efforts, Airbus can provide more modern and economic aviation products to Chinese airlines, while China Aviation Supplies offer high quality and value-added services to Chinese airlines," Li said.

Articles in both Britain's Financial Times and the Washington Post reported on Saturday that a Boeing 767 airliner manufactured in the US for President Jiang contained at least 27 spying devices.

Isn't the value of the yuan tied to the value of the dollar? Thus, the yuan is taking a hit versus the Euro every bit as much as the dollar, is it not?

I am well aware that list prices for aircraft are meaningless, and that the actual price often varies greatly from the published price. China must have been offered a terrific deal not to have bought from Boeing.

They are operating on the concept of "total war". We stupidly think that if they aren't shooting at us, they aren't at war with us. They intend to be the next world power. That means that they will do everything thay can to destroy our economy. Look at the walmart deal with them. Think they are on walmart's side in this? No. They are on china's side.

They know that to have one hugely successful retailer competing on unequal terms with the rest will just pull down the rest of the economy. The downfall of walmart will come when china detaches from the dollar-as they have been hinting they will-and walmart no longer has a cheap source for their goods.

I've heard it said that china's economy is so large that they can afford to give their corporations favored financial agreements to fight us with. Remember that all corporations in china are part of the state, not at all like the western model.
