CAIRO (AFP) - A car bomb killed and injured a "large number" of people in the Kurdish city of Arbil, in northern Iraq, Egypt's official MENA news agency said.

The explosion was set off near a checkpoint of the Kurdish Democratic Party (KDP) of Massoud Barzani, the report said, quoting witnesses.

I thought this was a dupe, but the other one was a building with a few injuries and this one is a checkpoint with a lot of injuries. Don

Edit: Here is the one I thought it was.

5. Sounds rather organized to me...
... which makes today's multiple bombings all the more disturbing.

But, I'm reassured, because Smirky sez that $87 Billion will buy safety for Americans at home...

6. It looks like it. However, they often morph together.
2 in Israel
1 in Erbil
1 in Kirkuk
1 miscellaneous

And they blew up the oil pipeline to Turkey again on Monday.

7. it just irks me to end
that before the ''war'' these bombings against americans troops just wouldn't be.
it's all a fiction -- and i remain convinced that the search for democracy in iraq by an american status quo is futile.

8. 6 injured US soldiers, 41 Iraqis injured, one dead...
"IRBIL, Iraq (AP) - A car bomb exploded outside an office used by U.S. soldiers in northern Iraq late Tuesday, killing one Iraqi and wounding six Americans, the U.S. military said. Another 41 Iraqis were injured.

The wounded included children from nearby houses and Iraqi Kurdish guards. Firefighters battled to put out car fires at the scene of the blast in Irbil, the largest city in Kurdish-controlled northern Iraq.

Staff Sgt. Shane Slaughter, U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad, said that the six injured Americans were Department of Defense personnel. He did not say if they were military or civilian. "

And the award for most inappropriately named military spokesman goes to.....(DRUMROLL)......

9. Gack. Don, I put up a post earlier today about this not knowing how to
spell "Erbil", or "Arbil" or "Irbil"...I've seen it spelled all those ways and waiting for someone to try "Orbil". Such is the difficulty of translation using different alphabets. We're reduced to phonetics, obviously which don't always work very well. :-(

But here's one I think is fairly straightforward: PHUCK U BUSH.

:D
