US government deficit up in first two months of fiscal 2005

WASHINGTON, Dec. 10 (Xinhuanet) -- The US government recorded a budget deficit of 115.2 billion dollars in the first two months of the 2005 fiscal year beginning from October 1, the Treasury Department announced on Friday.

The shortfall was slightly larger than the deficit of 112.5 billion dollars posted for the corresponding period of fiscal year of 2004.

The report said that the US government spending in October and November totaled 386.6 billion dollars while the revenues was only 271.4 billion dollars.

For the budget year of 2004, which ended on September 30, the US government registered a deficit of 412.3 billion dollars, a record high in dollar terms.

With respect to what the administration actually thinks or believes,...that is another matter entirely. They habitually misrepresent the truth so I suspect they also misrepresent their motivations and thoughts, known or unknown, so to speak *grin*.

Don't think there's a crisis in government funding? They're manufacturing one as fast as they can! Let's see, $115.2 billion in the hole for the first two months extrapolated at that rate to 12 months yields a projected deficit for the year of nearly $700 billion.

Gee, I sure hope Faux News comes on soon to tell me how the Republicans are so fiscally responsible! I feel my faith in them beginning to waver . . .

two months x six = one year

$115.2 bn x six = $691.2 bn

Has anyone even projected anything close to this disastrous of a shortfall? Crap, the way I understood things, we were supposed to only have about a $ 300 bn shortfall for FY05--and we're almasot halfway there!???
