Wonder if they will put the bands behind the armed guards around Bush or in front of Bush?
AMERICAN FORK — Christmas came early for American Fork High School's marching band.
Band director John Miller has received word that the 200-member band has been selected to perform in Washington, D.C., at the Jan. 20 presidential inaugural parade.
The drawback: It will cost $157,000 to fly students, instruments, teachers and volunteers to the event. Deposits for flights and housing are due as early as Monday.
There's also an administrative hurdle: The Alpine District Board of Education will have to give its permission for the trip.
District Superintendent Vern Henshaw, however, does not expect board members to turn down the band's travel request. He said the board will likely cheer the students for being picked to be a part of President Bush's re-election swearing-in celebration.
