Al-Anbar Attacks Kill Seven U.S. Marines, U.S. Military Says
Dec. 13 (Bloomberg)
-- Attacks in Iraq's al-Anbar province killed seven U.S. Marines yesterday, the U.S. military command said in an e-mailed statement.
The soldiers died in two separate incidents while carrying out security operations in the province, the military said in a statement issued today. It didn't give any other details.
Al-Anbar province, lying west of the capital, Baghdad, is home to the cities of Fallujah and Ramadi, part of the so-called Sunni Triangle that harbors supporters of ousted Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein.
A U.S. soldier killed Dec. 7 in Iraq was the 1,000th from the U.S. to die in hostilities in Iraq since the March 2003 invasion, according to Pentagon data.
