Ohio Electors Vote Despite Challenge
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=519&ncid=703&e=1&u=/ap/20041213/ap_on_re_us/ohio_electoral_college

The Ohio delegation to the Electoral College cast its votes for President Bush on Monday, hours after dissident groups asked the state Supreme Court to review the outcome of the state's presidential race.

The 20 GOP electors voted unanimously for Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.

"The vast majority of people understand this election is over," said Gov. Bob Taft, who was at the electors' voting session in the state Senate chamber.

The challengers who went to the Supreme Court question whether Bush won the key swing state by 119,000 votes, guaranteeing his victory over Democrat John Kerry (news - web sites).

3. Your attitude sounds subversive, Comrade Leftchick
Edited on Mon Dec-13-04 02:54 PM by daleo
Perhaps some re-education will help you see the wisdom of the new vocabulary.

On edit - forgot to mention, "Hail Comrade Leader Bush".

12. True, I was just picking up on the common usage of dissident
I don't know what they were called in Hitler's era exactly - undesirable elements or something? Maybe parasites. But, you're right I think, the current tendency to totalitarianism is more redolent of fascism than communism. I am frequently reminded of Caligula as well.

4. Dissident is a word of honor
We ought to be proud to have that label. Think of dissidents in the Soviet Union and in China who fought and continue to fight against corrupt, nondemocratic regimes. We should thank the writers of mainstream wire services for using such a word to describe pro-democracy activists in the United States.

6. Look at this definition of dissident!
dissident

adj 1: characterized by departure from accepted beliefs or standards 2: disagreeing, especially with a majority n : a person who dissents from some established policy

I don't mind being called one. Don't we all disagree with the so-called majority?

7. there's that "vast majority" phrase again....trivializing the 49%ers
when winning by the slimmest of margins means everything vastly everything.

19. The "vast majority of people" is wrong on many levels
:evilgrin:I don't know the exact number of Americans, let's say 285,000,000; 53,000,000 is less that 19% of Americans. O.K., Let's say 1/2 of the Kerry voters believe the 2004 election is over, together, that makes 79,000,000 which equals 28%.

It's only when you get down to the number of voters, who have yet to have their right to vote taken away, or "Eligible Voters," at about 194,000,000 of the 285,000,000 that the approx 79,000,000 who MIGHT believe the election is over, that you get to just over 60%.

To take it one step further, let's say 100,000,000 of the 6 Billion people in the World, that's less than 1.7%, :wow: hardly a Vast Majority.:grr:

27. let me explain....
at the bottom of any yahoo article you may rate it 1 through 5, 5 being the highest. The higher the rating the better chance of the article getting more exposure and perhaps showing up in the mainstream press. Freeps is short for people(?) who post at freerepublic.com. It is a nasty RW website and if you go be prepared to shower after! The freepers or freeps love to spend their unemployed hours voting down important articles such as this one. Any negative report out of Iraq, including the deaths of soldiers, is regularly "freeped" by them. Real patriots aren't they?

15. Patience. The sheeple (hate that term) are only as good as the
information they get.

Don't give up, don't go away in disgust. Let's follow this thread to its conclusion.

"Truth will out". It always does.

I'm calling the NYTs, the LATimes & the SFChron to cancel my subscription because they either ignored this criminal scandal or they ran mendacious AP stories w/out checking them out. (Is there a journalist in the house?)

We're a three paper family and it will hurt. But the MSM needs a huge reality check right about NOW.

18. Did anyone honestly think this election
would be overturned by Jan 20? That's not gonna happen, and it never was going to happen. Proving fraud is going to take a long time and when it is proven, it's going to be a huge scandal. Things like this don't happen quickly, they happen over time and they happen in a big way.

Good lord, that man has done so many horrible and illegal things already! Too bad Congress won't impeach him unless he gets a blowjob from an intern or, perhaps, is accused of rigging the vote.

Three choices. Pick one to focus on. Time stops for none and without the future we have regret, hindsight and no vision. It's time to moveon and reorg.

28. Trader in the DNC
I was watching Faux News and Joe Andrew came out saying that the recount in OH has no basis and that no one in the DNC nor Kerry believes Bush lost OH but they will investigate irregularities from the election and they dont support the recount....Also the republicans said DNC should waste their money on more important things instead of the investigation. sounds to me that Faux found a rightwing dem to back up there "its official Bush wins OH" story and make it look like even the dems buy into the BS

30. Oh. NO!
Bush did not win Oh.

Oh. exit polls showed Kerry winning by 52%
the actual vote gave Kerry about 48.6%

Exit polls are rarely, but the electronic
voting machines are unreliable and vulnerable
to sabotage.

Professor Stephen Freeman of the Univ. of Penn
has found that the probablity of Kerry winning
48.6% to be less than 0.0008
