Machines are impounded; Cozean leads
By Rob Seetoo
Poughkeepsie Journal

All voting machines in the City of Poughkeepsie were impounded on primary night Tuesday, leaving results of the city's Democratic primaries undecided, according to the Dutchess County Board of Elections.
According to unofficial results from the Board of Elections Web site, Nancy Cozean was about 130 votes ahead in the mayoral race against John B. Garrity Jr. with 96 percent of the districts reporting.

It was unclear how much the impounding of the machines could affect the reported votes.

4. they should assume foul play
this story suggests this district is rotten. I wonder if this guy was ever removed?

http://www.pcnr.com/News/2000/0223/General_Stories/feb23oa5595.html

Governor Pataki announced last week that Special Commissioner, Austin Campriello, has brought charges against Dutchess County Elections Commissioner William Paroli Sr. that could result in his removal from office.

<snip>

He is also accused of, while acting as an Election Commissioner for Dutchess County, he, in connection with an inspection of voting machines, attempted to bar certain persons from access to a public part of a public building, and in the process pushed, kicked and threatened another person.

5. Is That the Same Cozean
Who was a co-anchor at Albany's channel 13 news?

I remember once when her earring slipped off in the middle of a newscast. She picked it up and put it back in while continuing her delivery. Didn't skip a beat.
