Iran toughens stance towards IAEA as pressure mounts
REGION: Iran toughens stance towards IAEA as pressure mounts

* Tehran accuses Western countries of destroying the process of cooperation with the agency

TEHRAN: Iran toughened its stand Wednesday over demands it agree to snap inspections of its atomic energy programme, saying it may review its cooperation with the UN’s nuclear watchdog as Western countries turn up the heat.

Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi denounced the “arrogance” and “extremist posture” of certain countries, as the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) board of governors met in Vienna to consider a draft resolution on the issue.

VIENNA: The UN nuclear watchdog was Wednesday considering setting an October 31 deadline for Iran to prove it is not secretly trying to develop atomic weapons as Tehran warned it could cut off cooperation with the body. International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Chief Mohamed El Baradei said as the agency’s 35-nation board of governors went into a third day of meetings Wednesday: “Everybody agrees that there is important work that has to do with non-proliferation concern and that work has to be brought to closure without delay.” “I think that even the Iranians would not disagree with that,” he said. But Iranian representative Ali Akbar Salehi said: “We do not accept deadlines ... You cannot impose deadlines on a sovereign country.”

OOOKKKAAAYY An October deadline! Where will the BFEE be headed at that time? Maybe pushing harder for "IRANI FREEDOM"? Maybe pushing for more US money to be spent in proliferation of nukes due tot he "IRAN NUCLEAR THREAT"?

If ShrubCo had not invaded Iraq, I really believe half of this insanity would not be escalating, would not be happening.

Sure wish something would break soon that would remove Junior and Company from the Great Throne of Abusive Power. <<closing eyes and clicking heels together three times>> There's no place for George. There's no place for George. (Hey, it worked for Dorothy...)

2. Have they learned NOTHING?

It seems that the same errors that resulted in a war crime against Iraq are happening again. This is the same sort of shit they were saying to Iraq, but NOW they are saying "Well, maybe they were telling the truth?" Too fucking late now, isn't it? Those dead innocents are not going to be resurrected because you have had another think!

How can ANY nation PROVE they are NOT doing something?

I demand that the IAEA PROVE that they are not a CIA front trying to create a reason for war! See how that works?
