Bomb Strapped to Horse Kills 8 Columbians
"BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) - A bomb strapped to a horse exploded in a plaza in a small town in northeast Colombia on Wednesday, killing at least eight people, including a toddler, and injuring 20 others, the army said.

Authorities blamed rebels of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, for the attack. The rebels have tied bombs to animals, mainly donkeys and horses, in the past."

1. Grrrr
Stupid humans, leave the animals out of it!

(I'm against the killing of human beings as well, but it is really low to use helpless animals, to me that is the equivalent to using a child! *Coventina ducks the oncoming flames*)

5. No flames from me
My first thought was sadness and a little disgust that they didn't mention that the poor horse was killed, too.

7. I think that the horse's death was a 'given'.....
You can assume that the horse died, but almost certainly instantly.

It's savage to use animals like this, but to be honest, I have to have more sympathy for the people than the horse, sad though it is.

4. the FARC are bastards and always have been
Self-described Marxists who shoot peasants who don't grow coca for them,
assassinate doctors and teachers in the rural villages who are trying to help the peasants - this is vile thuggery.

6. Agreed.....
Saw a very interesting documentary about FARC the other day.

They basically ended up robbing and killing the villagers that they originally set out to fight for. Villages are now having to arrange anti-FARC patrols just to prevent themselves being slaughtered.

8. Yes and the boatload of money made in the illegal arms trade
ensures their survivability. IT's hard to sell weapons to people who don't want to kill.

13. Still support the so-called War on Drugs?
War kills soldiers, children, and other sentient beings.

15. Good thing they are only "Terrists of LOCAL Reach"
If the FARC were "Terrists of Global Reach", Bush & Co. would be all other them, right?

I saw saw that flip flop right after 9/11.

They said they were going after all "terrorists"...at which point the KKK, Neo-Nazis, anti-government types, and who knows else were shakin in their respective boots. Then Bush & Co. quickly renames the campaign as the the "War on Terrists of Global Reach". What B.S.

11. Using an animal is certainly no sicker than a suicide bomber
Let's get real people - you are sickened because a horse was used - to kill eight humans?

Believe me if they had horses in the open in Iraq or Israel this would have been routine stuff. And the Americans or Israelis would have to shoot horses on sight.

12. the sickness lies in
the fact that animals have nothing to do with homo sapien screw-ups. leave them out of this. is it time for a rerun of planet of the apes? these stupid bombings are strictly an intraspecies thing, and we need to work it out ourselves. our karmic debt is already out the yin-yang!

19. Well said.
It is known that people who lack compassion for animals often lack compassion for their fellow man, as well. The problem is that these people lack any capacity for empathy and are operating at an infantile emotional level, where the only thing that matters is their own will and immediate gratification of any desires. Unfortunately, this emotional state is couple with an adult intellect and cunning.

14. Young Communist League, USA supports FARC
On the other hand, the State Department lists the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia – People’s Army (FARC-EP) as a terrorist organization, an idea that we categorically reject. They make no distinction between organizations that target civilians and those armed organizations that are part of mass social movements struggling for social change.

We stand against any attempt to use the fight against terrorism to attack the people’s movements in Colombia or anywhere else.

17. I am from Colombia. We have had a non-declared
civil war (with some small lulls) since 1948. They don't even count the dead. The cruelty of humans against humans is unbelievable. The FARC are bad but Colombian goverments and the OLIGARCHY have been awful too. My heart cries for Colombia.

20. We in the USA are so ignorant of the daily struggles
that others must endure. What would completely stun and appall us, others must adapt to as a way of life and daily occurence.

LittleApple81, forgive us for any thoughtless insensitivity.
