Insurgents kill three, search cars in Baghdad

BAGHDAD, Dec 19 (Reuters) - Gunmen fired on a police car as it drove through a violent neighbourhood of central Baghdad on Sunday, then dragged three passengers from the vehicle and shot them dead, witnesses said.

A police source said they could be employees of Iraq's Electoral Commission which is overseeing the setting up and conducting of Iraq's election set for Jan. 30.

Witnesses said the people pulled from the car were wearing civilian clothes although they were travelling in a police car. snip

Insurgents armed with AK-47 assault rifles and pistols then set up a roadblock on the street, stopping and searching every car that passed, pointing their guns in through the windows, the witnesses said. Some scenes were filmed by Reuters Television.

There were no police or U.S. forces anywhere in the area. The police source said units were unable to get to the scene.

The Resistance succeeded in totally destroying the al-
Fallujah train station, Abu Nur told Mafkarat al-Islam,
by bombarding it with three Ababil rockets. Those razed it to
the ground. One of the correspondents brought to al-Fallujah
by the Americans reported that the train station had
been flattened with all those inside. A cameraman said he
was nearby and wanted to film it, but the US forces hit him
and prevented him from taking the pictures. They then drove
him away from the place, threatening to kill him. The
cameraman had no estimate of the number of people killed
in the attack. The train station, however, was regarded as
an important site that the Resistance was always
shelling because it was a center for the US troops and
their military vehicles.

The Ababil-100 is a 400 mm rocket with a range of 150 Kms,
a 300 Kg warhead, and can deliver cluster munitions.

Thanks for posting this photo.

Its gruesome but its letting us know what's really happening in Iraq.

I'd see never this on CNN because people would ask the same question that you did: 'how can there be elections with such violence going on'.

My response is that the 'elections' are not about the Iraqis but for Americans to help us justify invading and occupying a foreign land.

The rest of the world's people won't buy that bull even though their governments might officially recognize the election results.

I am very happy that our commanders in the field did not fall for it. I am afraid many American soldiers would have been killed had they responded to this. The writing is on the wall. The US is not controlling anything in Iraq. Its all over now. Bush the dummy has shown the entire world how another country can defeat the most powerful military in the world. He just had to expose our underbelly for all to see. The fucking idiot. I am really starting to have contempt for the people who thought invading Iraq was a great idea. 7. Good reason for US not making it to Hayfa St

Resistance assaults Abu Ghurayb prison camp.

In a dispatch posted at 3pm Saturday Mecca time (4pm
Saturday local time) Mafkarat al-Islam reported that
Iraqi Resistance forces had launched a broad attack on the
Abu Ghurayb prison camp south of Baghdad. The
Resistance assault began at about 12:25pm and was still
going on when the correspondent submitted his
report.

Eyewitnesses reported that 100 Resistance fighters launched
a fierce attack on the prison, forcing US troops to take
cover inside their barracks within the compound.
Resistance fighters pounded the Americans with barrages
of 82mm and 120mm mortar rounds. Large crowds of
people gathered outside, fearful that the
Resistance bombardment might harm the prisoners. But
the Resistance reassured the people (WTF?! They're talking to the crowds outside?!)
that they knew the
layout within the prison camp very well.

Mafkarat al-Islam’s correspondent in Baghdad reported that
the Resistance had succeeded in destroying part of the walls
of the prison camp, blasting a hole four meters long in the
inner and outer fences – since the camp is encircled by
two fences.

The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in the area outside
of al-Fallujah met some journalists who had refused to enter
the city with the column. They said that they refused out of fear
of the fighting that was erupting. They said they were
watching Resistance missiles rocketing towards the US
forces for two hours.

18. I've copies these photos and will place them at Arlington West today.

I went to the anti war demo in Hollywood last night; It was very succssful.

There was groups of women there with a banner that had crosses for each
month for each fallen soldier; it was a very long banner.

I helped hold up the banner and watched peoples' reaction

The banner also listed the ages; Some of killed were only 19 and 21 years old.

I asked one young African-American girl how old was she she said 19 and I pointed out to her that Sean Horne's cross showing that he was her age; she was shocked.

And I pointed that out to other people people that came up and asked questions the ages ... they had nothing to say.

I wish I had these pictures to distribute.
