Three Children Dead, Mother and Child Wounded in Shooting

HOUSTON (AP) - Three girls were killed and their mother and teenage sister were wounded in a shooting Thursday that the wounded teen blamed on her 35-year-old boyfriend.

The five were shot early Thursday in their home in southeast Houston. Police were searching for the boyfriend, Anthony Quinn Francois, Houston Police spokesman John Cannon said.

Police identified the slain girls as Brittany Patterson, 10, and her sisters Ashley, 11 and Nakisha, 15.

The mother, Sheila Patterson, 34, and her 16-year-old daughter, Shamika, were in surgery Thursday, Cannon said. Shamika Patterson told an officer who first arrived at the scene that Francois had shot them.

Back when Susan Smith killed her children in South Carolina, he said if people would vote Republican it would solve these problems (I am paraphrasing, but you all remember). Houston is a GOP bastion, and we have the Republicans running the country (and the state of Texas), and folks, I am not seeing a big change here in our culture of guns'n'violence.
