Anonymous Man Gives $35K to Homeless

DENVER - Residents of Samaritan House didn't know what to expect when the bearded, middle-aged man parked his sport utility vehicle in front of the downtown homeless shelter Christmas Eve.

The man walked into the building, pulled out a thick roll of $100 bills and began passing them out to each of the approximately 300 residents.

As a crowd gathered, the man said he had once been homeless and knew what it was like to be in need. He did not identify himself and said only that he lived in Denver and had also distributed money at a Las Vegas shelter.


Possibly the man's biggest single donation was $5,000 to a family of six to find housing. Louis Quezada, Tessa Wittner and their four children had been living with Quezada's parents but were thrown out after an argument. They had been in the shelter several days.

it could have been voided because by the rules the actual person donating it would have to be vetted to ensure they weren't a McDonalds employee or whatever (fat chance!); anyway, it became the legal property of McDonalds and they donated it to St. Jude. :)

One of the 3 major channels did a national story on him about 2 years or so ago, I think.

I believe he's a stockbroker.

if you don't need one. Most people never put them in 4WD. Some people live on a hill with a dirt road; some medical personnel need them if it snows; some hunt or fish or do archaeology. I got no bone to pick with those who use them. I have a very big problem with rich fucks in Hummers, or young pricks who think they are cool but have no idea how to drive a powerline or a forest road. Arlington ain't got no mountains, and it rarely snows enough to close businesses; and yet every other vehicle is an SUV.

23. I hate to be a spoil sport, but why do these people wait till x-mas?

it appears that these types of things only happen around x-mas. Are homeless people any less homeless or needy the other 364 days of the year? I give year round, not because it makes me feel good, but because these peoples problems for finding a meal or getting clothing, like ours, never ends.
Cheers to the guy that gave out the money, but frankly, if he was able to shell out 35K at a clip, the money could be better used at a soup kitchen or a homeless shelter that provides basic job training and classes for these folks.
I was homeless, I know of what I speak. When you have lived on the street, one becomes very cynical towards the "good" people who show up one time during the year then vanish.
So this year, when you see someone on a street corner wanting change, job or a meal, don't turn away and stare at the traffic light or turn up your music, sometimes, just a hello and a smile goes along way.

I think maybe you only really hear about this stuff around xmas. That and Thanksgiving. There are folks out there who do good works the whole year 'round, and youll never hear about them because good news does'nt sell - or so the media says.
