http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=519&ncid=703&e=3&u=/ap/20041227/ap_on_re_us/rell_breast_cancerGov. M. Jodi Rell was scheduled to undergo surgery Monday to have one of her breasts removed after cancer was discovered during a routine mammogram, the governor's office said.
Rell, 58, was expected to be in the hospital for about three days, officials said. The governor's office did not say where Rell was being treated.
According to Rell's office, the cancer was discovered last week after doctors removed and tested two calcium deposits found during the mammogram. Tests showed the disease had not spread, her office said.
Rell, a Republican, said in a statement she was looking forward to watching Monday night's Motor City Bowl matchup between the University of Connecticut and the University of Toledo.
