KIEV, Ukraine (AP)- Ukrainian Transport Minister Heorhiy Kirpa was found dead with a gunshot wound Monday, the Interfax news agency reported.
Kirpa's body was found in his country house just outside the Ukrainian capital

Other centrists concerned about their future include Transport Minister Heorhiy Kirpa. Deputy Transportation Minister Ivan Saliy provided mounds of evidence to the Supreme Court about the massive abuse of "administrative resources" by state transportation companies in support of Yanukovych, which was undertaken on the orders of Kirpa and Kluyev. Kirpa organized the Vidrodzhennia Party in the summer to force transportation workers to back Yanukovych. If a nascent parliamentary caucus of 270 deputies has indeed already been formed, a pro-Yushchenko parliamentary majority would be only 30 short of the 300 votes needed to consider changes to the constitution.

shennanigans on both sides. Typical politicians I think.
Heard an interesting tidbit recently - not sure if it is true or not but might be worth investigating. Apparently Yushenko's wife is american and was in daddy Bush's administration.
Perhaps there is truth to the charge that the demonstrations have been orchestrated by non-russian elements.
With all the recent republican spin on things in this country being exposed, I do question whether we have been getting the right 'take' on things about 'evil' Russia for many, many, years.

8. We've done it before

Sometimes in parts of the world(the Arab world, South America) where we don't even look like the population.

Whether this incident happened as a result of that, I don't know. But Ukraine, and that whole area of the world, is far too important for any kind of democracy. Most of, if not all, of the former Soviet Republics aren't true democracies. As long as they have oil, or oil pipelines, and border Russia, they will continue to be that way. It's too important for outside powers to let the rabble control anything.

But then again, what isn't these days?

12. He may have known too much

If I recall correctly Yushchenko used to be a member of the government in the 1990's as well, so either of the "two Ys" might have had a motive to off him. Although, logically Yanukovich would have had more to fear, having been in office more recently.

Or maybe it was just bad luck.
