The statement followed a number of arrests this week of people with connections to the far right and skinhead scene, as well as the seizure of explosive materials, weapons and quantities of far-right literature. snip
About 100 people have been killed in the last decade in far-right violence in Germany, directed mostly at dark-skinned foreigners.
Attacks have been more frequent in the economically depressed east of the country, but the violence has abated since a surge in the early 1990s after unification.
