Economic investment between Israel and Venezuela on the rise
Venpres (Anaís Pérez): During 2004, economic investment between Israel and Venezuela has increased considerably, according to Israeli Ambassador to Venezuela, Sholmo Cohen speaking after meeting with Executive Vice President Jose Vicente Rangel to talk about proper mechanisms to improve cooperation and friendly ties between both nations.
Cohen said that Israeli exports to Venezuela, especially in the telecommunications area, had risen by 85% between the months of January and September compared to 2003, while Venezuelan oil exports to Israel had increased by 500% during the same period of last year.
The Israeli diplomat expressed his satisfaction for the development of good bilateral relations, and at the same time he estimated that said ties could continue on the rise, given the potential of both countries’ economies.
Ambassador Cohen announced that, by the second half of 2005, Israel is planning to bring an economic trade delegation to study investment and joint project possibilities in the areas of agriculture and medicine. He said that several commissions are being formed with that objective.
