At least one of the boys allegedly abused during a Mepham High School football camp was locked in a room by three older players who held him down and sodomized him with a broomstick, a source close to the victim's family said last night.
The boy, a ninth-grader at the Bellmore school, told his parents the older boys assaulted him while he was alone in a cabin during a weeklong training camp in Pennsylvania last month. Several days later, the boy discovered that two other junior varsity players allegedly had been abused in a similar way during the trip, the source said.
The boys were too ashamed to tell anyone what had happened, the source said. But days later, scared because two of them were still bleeding continuously, the boys finally told their parents, who reported it to the school and Pennsylvania police, the source said.
