White House opposes decision
White House opposes decision

AP DIPLOMATIC WRITER

WASHINGTON - The Bush administration has notified Israel it is opposed to the expulsion of Yasser Arafat even though "he is part of the problem and not part of the solution" in the tense standoff with the Palestinians.

"We think that it would not be helpful to expel him because it would just give him another stage to play on," spokesman Richard Boucher said as Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's government threatened to oust Arafat from the West Bank.

"The Israeli government is very clear on what our views are on these things and I think understands clearly our position," Boucher said.

Secretary of State Colin Powell and his spokesman repeatedly have spoken out against expulsion of the president of the Palestinian Authority, emphasizing that the result could be to build him up.

2. What an incompetent bunch of loonies....
"The Bush administration has notified Israel it is opposed to the expulsion of Yasser Arafat even though "he is part of the problem and not part of the solution" in the tense standoff with the Palestinians."
WTF is that even supposed to mean?

""The Israeli government is very clear on what our views are on these things and I think understands clearly our position," Boucher said."
Well, then let's get the Israelis to explain it to us...because I sure as hell don't know what the Pirates of Enron are trying to say "we" want.

3. I think Israel is playing with the good ol' USofA !
As a Christian I love our frinds in Israel, but I question their
leader as I question the motives of ours.

4. This is going to be Armageddon!
The Bush administration has got to do more than politely suggest that Israel drop it's plan to deport Arafat! In fact, just the way Israel floated this idea suggests that they are looking for some reaction from the US and so far the reaction has been so luke warm we might as well throw the bon voyage party.

6. luke warm reaction:
In my local paper it had an article quoting the Bush administration saying it was possibly counterproductive. Ya think??? Then there was a letter to the editor pointing out that " 518 Israeli civilians and 2,150 Palestinian civilians have been killed in the last three years of violence" and pointing out that because"the US bankrolls the Israeli occupation of these lands, there is a great responsibility on us to make informed judgments about the conflict. The U.S. can't be an effective peace broker until Palestinian lives are valued as much as Israeli lives." But then the radio report of the story is only saying the Israeli's plan to expel Arafat-no mention of 'or kill'.

And no, there aren't that many freepers out there (over 106,000 votes so far).

10. Well, if that's what Bush wants
and I'm not at all sure that it is (it's one of those things that we may never know or only find out when he's writing his memoirs), then he has plenty of company in that sentiment. It's a close and very debatable question as to whether deportation or execution would ultimately be better for the Israelis, the Palestinians and the rest of the world. I think that it is safe to say that the Palestinians will never see any kind of light at the end of the tunnel so long as Arafat has any influence.

14. Never base your opinions on an online poll
There are ways to skew the results even when there are tens of thousands of votes.

But yes, the American people have been overwhelmingly pro-Israel since Israel's inception, as have our policies. And we've been paying for it ever since (terrorism).

12. Um, do you know what the Temple Mount is?
And if so, could you explain why Sharon would ever want to "mow (it) down" or why Christian fundamentalists (you DID mean christian fundamentalists, right?) would be happy at such an action?

13. Oh my god, where do I start
The Temple Mount is like the holiest spot on earth that the Jews, Christians and Muslims all claim. At the moment, the Muslims are in control and have built a number of Mosques on the site on top of the Jewish Temple that was there for a brief period in ancient history.

In order to fulfill the prophicies and for Jesus to return the Temple Mount must be destroyed. Get the picture.

Google: Temple Mount and Ariel Sharon or Temple Mount and Pat Robertson

BEWARE THE RED HEIFER
How religious nutballs could start World War III
by Justin Raimondo
http://www.antiwar.com/justin/j041502.html
Is a much shorter version of the same story.

Is Bush preparing for the Rapture?
http://www.unknownnews.net/apocalypsenow.html
is another good resource.

According to Evangelical Christian beliefs, the Jews will rebuild the Temple Mount. When that happens the Lord will take all Born Again Christians up into heaven with him where they will live at his right hand for ever and ever Amen.
But the Jews will not rebuild the Temple Mount because they are all impure from having stepped upon the earth which has dead people buried in it. In order for them to be pure, they must get a pure red heifer that was born in Israel and burn it. The ashes will be mixed with water and this will be used to purify the builders and priests of the temple.
Reverend Clyde Lott , an Evangelical cattle breeder, has been working with American-Born Rabbi Richman and West Bank settlers to genetically create a perfect red cow. The West Bank is currently populated with Palestinian Muslims who are sworn to protect the Al Aqsa Mosque which must be destroyed because it currently sits exactly where they intend to build the Temple Mount. They also need a male who has taken his bar mitzvah (he would be at least 13 years old) who has been raised "in a bubble" never touching the earth or anything that has become ritually unclean.
According to the Jews, the Messiah will come once the temple is built.
According to the Christians, the Jews will almost all die once the Temple is built and an antichrist immediately moves into it.
According to the Muslims, both the Christians and the Jews will die violent and bloody deaths if they attempt to destroy the Al Aqsa Mosque.
No, I am not hallucinating!
We are about to see the biggest mass suicide ever.
Furthermore, if you listen to the Christians, there also has to be a war with Persia around this same time.

16. The DELUSIONAL fantasy of the Temple Mount being destroyed
is the extreme right wing evangelicals dream of Armageddon starting..they WANT it destroyed because its how they interpret scripture...they are insane...During the 1st Gulf war, Pat Robertson was wetting himself with the idea of a scud missile destroying the Temple Mount so that war would start and jesus would come back..I heard him say it.

we are dealing with REALLY INSANE people here.

18. Cave of the Patriarchs
from National Geographic :
"Tradition holds that Abraham, patriarch of Jews, Christians and Muslims, was laid to rest in a tomb at Hebron, a West Bank town of some 140,000 Palestinians and 500 Jewish settlers protected by Israeli troops. The shrine itself is shared by Muslims and Jews, although tensions often boil over. In 1994 a Jewish settler massacred 29 Muslims at prayer here, fueling an explosion of hate and retribution that continues to this day".
Does anyone know what happened to the settler who committed this act of terrorism ?.
