When you hear commentators start saying words to the effect of "Well, the recall wasn't really about removing Davis anyway," then you'll know this thing is deader than a doornail.

By the way, this sort of thing works for wars, too. When you hear "Well, it wasn't about the weapons of mass destruction anyway," you'll know that enough folks have caught on that we had a bogus invasion for a bogus reason to prop up the bogus poll numbers of a bogus president. The only real things are the dead and maimed bodies.
