Iraq WMD search: Coming up short......

THE HUNT for weapons of mass destruction, so far, has been a bust. Intelligence officials told NBC News there is no smoking gun. They thought they’d discovered a biological weapons lab, but it wasn’t one.
A massive CIA investigation, led by former U.N. weapons inspector Kay, is turning up only what former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein planned — not what he produced.
“He’s not finding the kinds of things the administration expected to find — large quantities of biological and chemical weapons or evidence that they were destroyed prior to the war,” said David Albright, a former U.N. weapons inspector.

Coming up short.......my goodness, who would have guessed. The spin from the white house has already changed to Saddam was the WMD.

1. What I see as the major problem is this
<SNIP>
Despite the failed search, at Fort Stewart, Ga., on Friday, President Bush again raised the specter of Saddam’s weapons:
<SNIP>

whistle ass is looking for the WMD in Georgia. Here is a hint George, Alabama is a better try, they are incenerating them there at least. (sarcasm)

10. That's probably on their mind...and b... can even revise his..
old campaign song, by changing Iraq to Iran...

George Bush's new Campaign Song: Sing it to the tune of "If you're happy and you know it"

If you cannot find Osama, bomb Iraq. If the markets are a drama, bomb Iraq. If the terrorists are frisky, Pakistanis looking shifty, North Korea is too risky, Bomb Iraq.

If we have no allies with us, bomb Iraq. If we think someone has dissed us, bomb Iraq. So to hell with the inspections, Let's look tough for the elections, CLOSE your mind and take directions, Bomb Iraq.

It's """pre-emptive non-aggression""", bomb Iraq. Let's prevent this mass destruction, bomb Iraq. They've got weapons we can't see, And that's good enough for me 'Cos it's all the proof I need Bomb Iraq.

If YOU NEVER WERE ELECTED, bomb Iraq. If your mood is quite dejected, bomb Iraq. If you think Saddam's gone mad, With the weapons that he had, (And he tried to kill your dad), Bomb Iraq.

If your corporate fraud is growin', bomb Iraq. If your ties to it are showin', bomb Iraq. If your politics are sleezy, And hiding that ain't easy, And your manhood's getting queasy, Bomb Iraq.

Fall in line and follow orders, bomb Iraq. For our might knows not our borders, bomb Iraq. Disagree? We'll call it treason, let's make war, not love this season, even if we have no reason, Bomb Iraq.

4. So when is Mr. Kay supposed to release his "damning" report?
About all of those WMDs that HAVE been found... that if really existed would have already been trotted out BEFORE bush had to humiliate himself on tv last week and admit he must go begging for help (but on his terms only) to the UN...

20. Exactly 2 months ago they said they wouldn't release it piecemeal
I think it was 2 months ago. Anyway they layed it out in an almost threatening or beligerant way, WAIT UNTIL THE REPORT COMES OUT AND YOU WILL SEE THAT THE WMD DID EXIST AND IN MASSIVE AMOUNTS.

That was about the same time that it changed from WMD to WMD Programs.

And now *poof* nothing, just plans. Like Padilla's "plan" for a dirty bomb.

24. WMD programs
In todays world I wonder how many countries have a program(not weapons) or have at least assembled scientists to look into developing a program. I would guess there would be a large number of countries that have done so. If that is the case, does the US go after every country that either has a "program"? In neo-con reasoning, that might happen. That is truly a scary thought.

5. "Saddam was the WMD"
I'll grant you, it is perhaps the single most assinine four words of repiglickin' attempted-ass-coverage ever, but I will also remind you - they don't know where Hussein is, either

But members of his national security team are now saying removing Saddam was justification enough for the war - that he himself was a weapon of mass destruction.

I am rendered speechless yet again. What a bunch of friggin' yahoos.

17. Oh, that's just darling, isn't it?
Thanks for pointing that out. Guess he's just another one they can't find.

Wandering Missing Dictator?

Is that supposed to be cute? Is that supposed to fly? Who is this Hussein guy? Keyser Soze? Ernst Stavro Blofeldt? Dr. Moriarty?

I just can't wait to hear what flimsy excuses and innuendo they trot out next week. Something tells me I'll be seeing those clips from Poland where Junior emphatically claims that the balloon trucks were germ laboratories.

Let's set that bar nice and appropriately high, shall we?

"A massive CIA investigation, led by former U.N. weapons inspector Kay, is turning up only what former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein planned — not what he produced. "

Exactly.

edit: misplaced bracket

9. Yes, but those are 1200 United States citizens.
The problem with a conspiracy of that magnitude means that you have to have the cooperation of many people. Just one with loyalty to the country and the conspiracy goes up in smoke.

Iraq WMD search: Coming up short

"Despite the failed search, at Fort Stewart, Ga., on Friday, President Bush again raised the specter of Saddam’s weapons: “Because of our military, catastrophic weapons will no longer be in the hands of a reckless dictator.”

Air Force Report Refutes Bush Claim

What about those unmanned planes the United States said could have been used to spray biological or chemical weapons? An Air Force report from October says they were never built for that purpose:

The Director, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance, U.S. Air Force, does not agree that Iraq is developing UAVs primarily intended to be delivery platforms for chemical and biological warfare (CBW) agents. The small size of Iraq’s new UAV strongly suggests a primary role of reconnaissance, although CBW delivery is an inherent capability.”

25. Powell presented WMD "programs" at the UN?
According to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, speaking at a National Press Club luncheon Wednesday, “I think that the U.S. intelligence and the intelligence services of the other countries were never perfect, and it was a closed society, but sufficiently good that we’ll find the kind of evidence of programs that Secretary Powell presented to the United Nations.”

Powell did not present evidence of programs. He held up a vial of powder. He presented cartoon bio-weapons labs and snips of telephone conversations taken out of context, revealing nothing (but meant to scare the bejesus out of the American people). He showed aerial shots of trucks.
