Democrats Call Republican Plan a War on Vets
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - "A Republican proposal on Capitol Hill amounts to "a declaration of war" against disabled military veterans, U.S. Senate Democratic leaders charged in a letter to President Bush on Friday.

The measure, still under review, would limit disability benefits in the future to those who suffer injuries while in the performance of official military duties, aides said."

Wow- I didn't realize being in the military was a regular 9-5 job where you got to take off when you wanted, go home every night at the same time and could do pretty much anything you pleased. It's not as if they have to give up a lot of personal liberties or anything when they serve. Man, these diabled Vererans sure are crybaby's...

1. Typical repug strategy.
Many years ago the repugs figured out that you can do whatever you want and then just tell the public you're doing something else and no one will notice. They do that all the time. Say one thing, then do another. They support public education. They want to save the environment. The war is for peace. Compassionate conservatism. Etc. The vast majority of the public has neither the time, attention span, or intellect to find out the truth about these monsters. The good news is that many sheeple DO understand when their pocketbook is being emptied... and that is what we need to make clear to them.

2. The "War on Vets" is a powerful
snippet of rhetoric, possibly a Major Meme in the making? We shall see.

If I were in office in DC to represent the American people and the soldiers who protect them, I would repeat that phrase 1,000 times: A Thousand Points of Truth.

3. We need to keep an eye on congress to see what
they have planned for us vets. Many vets are already pissed at the cuts Bush has made to the VA.

4. This is a strong talking point for us
I've spoken with many conservatives, and can't budge them about their opinions about how wonderful Bush is-until I bring up the veteran's issue. The freepers who scream about how awful Clinton was and how unpatriotic I am not to support Bush sudden grow very very silent. And others go away with thoughtful looks on their faces.

5. now why on earth would anyone want tax cuts for the wealthy.....
more than they want benefits for disabled American military veterans. Where does this all end.

6. Republicans have done this for years
and gotten away with it. Active military & veterans have believed it was the Repukes that supported them and it has always been such a lie. Major battle going on right now behind the scenes (getting out in the open) Repukes & bush screwed vets royally (& lied) last time around - this time the vets especially are furious - hope they stay that way - it's only going from bad to worse.
