The bodies of 18 young Iraqis executed after seeking work at a US base have been found in a field near the volatile city of Mosul, police said on Thursday.
Police said that the insurgents shot the men, aged between 14 and 20, on December 8 after stopping their two mini-buses about 50 kilometres west of Mosul as they travelled from Baghdad.
Their hands were tied behind their back and each of them was shot in the head, police said.

In a separate execution-style incident, the bodies of three Jordanian truck drivers were discovered on the outskirts of Ramadi, 113 kilometres west of Baghdad.
They were shot in the head. "This is the fate of anyone who cooperates with the Americans," said a handwritten note placed on one of the bodies.
