U.S. apologizes for shooting
FALLUJAH, Iraq, Sept. 13 — The U.S. military apologized to the families of those mistakenly killed during shooting in Fallujah and said the incident is being investigated. Iraqi police said eight of their officers and a Jordanian security guard were killed. Chanting “America is the enemy of God” hundreds of angry Iraqis began on Saturday burying their dead.

1. This is the garnish
to a collossal shit sandwich. This event pretty much seals it I think. If it was extrememly difficult before, it will now be impossible for the US to work with any of the locals. It's over, there can't even be a charade anymore.

2. Hmm...I'm sure the investigation will be just as good
as the one which found out we didn't do a damn thing wrong when we killed those Canadians!

And as good as the look into 9/11.

And as good as the look at Cheney's task force.

And as good as the bidding specs for Halliburton's contract.

And as good as the look into evidence which Powell gave at the UN.

Aren't you?

3. For some reason,
I keep thinking of the scene in Animal House when John Belushi grabbed that guy's guitar, destroyed it in a frenzy, & handed it back, saying, lamely, "Sorry". Obviously there is no comparison between the deaths of these Iraqis & a ruined guitar, but the "Sorry" is just as lame.:-(

4. "We're sorry"
just isn't going to cut it.

Even today the Bush team was out there talking about the stunning victory in Iraq. People really believe them. It's scary. But then that's what happens when there is an electorate that is more plugged into the next Fear Factor than current event. We are a sad, uninformed and intellectually lazy country. The guy who occupies the White House is a reflection of this.
