Chief Justice Rehnquist Won't Return on Monday

U.S. Chief Justice William Rehnquist, who has thyroid cancer, will be unable to return to the bench on Monday when the Supreme Court reconvenes after its recess, a spokeswoman said.

``Because of continuing secretions caused by his tracheotomy and radiation therapy, Chief Justice Rehnquist will not sit on the bench when the court reconvenes Monday,'' court spokeswoman Kathy Arberg said in a statement released on Friday.
