Skepticism about the Official Explanation of 9-11 Spreads
Ronda Hauben 15.09.2003

Because there was no adequate official investigation into the cause of the 9-11 2001 tragedy an independent 9-11 research community is emerging

The events of 9-11, 2001 are still shrouded in mystery. Yet it is rare that the U.S. press will report on events challenging official U.S. government explanations of that day.

On Thursday evening, September 11, 2003, an estimated 800-900 people attended a program in New York City at the Riverside Church near Columbia University. It is not surprising that there was little press coverage of the event in the U.S. press. The program, the "Investigative Film Exhibition and Roundtable Program", was part of a larger 4 day event, continuing on September 12, 13, and 14 Reframing 9/11.

(...) Hence also pointed out that this event represented a collaboration of some in the U.S. anti war movement with those who were trying to uncover the source of the attack of September 11. Similarly, he welcomed the work done by some in the anti war movement to uncover and spread knowledge of the lies and forgeries used by the Bush and Blair governments to falsify the reasons for their attack on Iraq. Such exposures help to make it clearer to an increasing number of people in the U.S. that there are U.S. government officials willing to lie and use forged documents, like the forged documents claiming that Iraq was trying to purchase uranium from the African country of Niger, to conceal their real motives to attack democratic rights at home and to make war abroad. 1. Wow....
Edited on Sun Sep-14-03 08:32 PM by BullGooseLoony
Well, it's good we're gonna get some real Americans looking into this thing instead of a bunch of politicians. I just hope they don't find TOO much lying going on over the 9/11 issue. I have little faith in my government as it is. If they were lying about anything too serious (like who carried out the attacks) I think I'd lose all my faith completely.
On edit: I'm already pretty sure they're lying about Flight 93- it was shot down.

2. 9/11 and the conservatives.
This is a little off topic but, do you or anyone here know of a story making the rounds in Europe about a bestseller book (3rd) about the conservatives ties to 9/11? The book accuses Bush and the conservatives staging 9/11! I briefly heard the story on FoxNews today.

4. There was a DU thread a few days ago regarding your question.
As I recall, the Germans have at least one bestseller on the 9/11
"conspiracy". But, I don't know the name of the book. Sorry.

BTW, welcome to DU!

Thank you. I really enjoy DU and I use it as ammunition against my conservative friends. They hate DU! Too much factual info for them. BTW...how long before I can post my own topics? How many posts to fellow posters do I need? Any clues?

7. kidrocks, it isn't a very long time at all.
But, the administrators don't publish exactly when you can start your own threads. They will notify you soon when you can. Also, as a suggestion go to the "Ask the Administrators" Forum in the Lobby. I encourage you to post any questions of this nature in that particular Forum. Usually, you will get a response very quickly.

Good luck! And, again, we're so glad you're here!

Doing a good job of debunking many popular theories in those books (And telling about the authors).

Here is a English translation:
Panoply of the Absurd

16. That merely debunks absurd fictions like
the "Jews were told to stay home" and "no plane hit the Pentagon." The article doesn't touch one single, serious issue.

17. Its "debunking" also hinges on an erroneous assumption
that all the alternative explanations deny Atta's involvement.

"Carried out" by Atta does not mean that Atta and company were the only ones involved.

11. This has been brought up in a few places
William Rives Pitt, frequent contributer to Truth out.org and the DU has a book, "The greatest sedition is silence" it looks into that some. There have also been articles in the the British paper the Guardian that have been covering this.

Meacher sparks fury over claims on September 11 and Iraq war

Fury over Meacher claims

Ewen MacAskill, diplomatic editor
Saturday September 6, 2003
1. The Guardian

Michael Meacher, who served as a minister for six years until three months ago, today goes further than any other mainstream British politician in blaming the Iraq war on a US desire for domination of the Gulf and the world.

Mr Meacher, a leftwinger who is close to the green lobby, also claims in an article in today's Guardian that the war on terrorism is a smokescreen and that the US knew in advance about the September 11 attack on New York but, for strategic reasons, chose not to act on the warnings.

He says the US goal is "world hegemony, built around securing by force command over the oil supplies" and that this Pax Americana "provides a much better explanation of what actually happened before, during and after 9/11 than the global war on terrorism thesis".

Mr Meacher adds that the US has made "no serious attempt" to catch the al-Qaida leader, Osama bin Laden.
He also criticises the British government, claiming it is motivated, as is the US, by a desire for oil.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
And the German point of view on this idea

<SNIP>

Frankfurt-based publishing house Zweitausendeins boasts the runaway success of Mathias Broecker's book Conspiracies, Conspiracy Theories And The Secrets Of September 11 on its website, with more than 105 000 copies sold in 10 months. A follow-up volume has just hit bookstores.

<SNIP>

More than 70 000 Germans have also bought The CIA And September 11 by former federal research minister Andreas von Buelow, in which he argues the planes were piloted into targets in New York and Washington not by Islamic extremists but rather by remote control.

A third work, Operation 9/11 by public television reporter Gerhard Wisnewski, claims that the twin towers of the World Trade Centre were wired with explosives, has already secured a fourth print-run after three weeks in stores.

France's Thierry Meysson has found success at home and in Germany with 9/11: The Big Lie, which argues that the attack on the Pentagon was an attempted coup d'etat by US military officials to justify future wars.

<SNIP>
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hope that helps, and welcome to the DU

13. Telepolis
Telepolis is hard to describe ;) They publish articles about politics as well as science and the 'net. I don't know the internal structure of tp, but there seem to be no strict political guidelines for the different authors. It sometimes happens that two articles from different authors on a similar topic, but with completely different opinions and conclusions, are postet within a short time.

Most political articles are very critical regarding governments and authority.

I read tp every day :)

14. a German internet magazine about the "webculture"
Published by the respected heise publishing group (famous for the leading computer magazine c't). Telepolis won a few important awards, but I wouldn't think they ever had LBN. A source for GD or Editorials.

20. Telepolis source for LBN?
Sure they are. The column's German label is "news" :-) , the English name is "container". That's where the above article was quoted from.

TP often report news that do not figure prominently in other news media. Most of it is in German, of course, only when the source article is in English they will provide this version as well at:

5. Secrecy always calls attention to the crime scene. Outstanding news!!!
I applaud all those whom seek the truth!!!

I knew that if the White House and the Justice Department
blocked and inhibited our Judicial System from working,....

The "People" would take justice in their own hands.

The Investigation and the Trial will proceed with or without
Ashcroft and Tricky-Dick Cheney.

Cheers to those whom seek knowledge and truth!!!!

10. This is such a valid question.....I don't know why It's being ignored

In all the whitewashing B.S. investigagions they have, it is always said the the goal is not to lay blame or point fingers. Well I DO!! I want to know what broke down and why and I want to know who is responsible.

12. ...and punish who is responsible...
I want to know who did the commodities trades during the week prior to the attack. I want to know why the SEC has not told us who made the trades.

If the SEC doesn't know, then why don't they explain the reason they don't know, in language that I can understand?

If the SEC can spend so much time investigating Martha Stewart, then why doesn't Ashcroft direct them to simularly investigate those suspicious trades pertaining to 9/11?

Someone should ask Ashcroft why. Is the real reason that the money trail would be traced back to secret off-shore Bush family bank accounts in the Cayman Islands?

Why is the Bush administration stonewalling everything about 9/11? What is the real reason Bush did not want suspected Saudi terrorists investigated before 9/11?

Why were our defenses let down. Why did Bush call the guards off the tower? Who benefited? Was this the Bushovic's "Reichstag Fire?"

Ashcroft reminds me of Nixon's crooked Attorney General John Mitchel. What about this Bush family connection to the Bin Ladin family? I want to read the secret 28 pages. America needs some brave patriot to leak those pages.
