Coastal steamer «Richard With» canceled its Ålesund-Bergen route on Wednesday, after weathering storm 'Hårek' on the way south. Captain Inge Nilsen told newspaper Bergens Tidende's web site that he could not remember a cancellation on the west coast route before.
"No, I can never remember it being so bad before. We always manage to get through but it is not nice in this kind of wind. The passengers get scared and we risk damage to the ship," Nilsen said.
Inga is expected to hit hurricane strength in parts of her journey around western Norway today. Inga had gusts at hurricane level over Scotland and in the British sector of the North Sea late Tuesday night.
