1. The destruction of Babylon......
is only the most extensive desecration by the US Forces led by the Bush Crime Family, they also destroyed the Zoo at Bagdad, robbed the national museum, and robbed the Iraqi national treasury, murdered 150,000 people, destroyed the oil fields and all the public utilities.
All this because the bush crime family had a personal grudge against one man. G.Brish is right up there with Hitler and Caligula.

2. This is a desecration of a world treasure.
Edited on Fri Jan-14-05 11:03 PM by CottonBear
As a student of art history, land planning and architectural history, I am sick. This is a huge loss. Babylon is so fragile. The context of the historic remains is critical to understanding the history. I will not even start on the looting of the museum. I can hardly think of that without crying . Rummy and the MSM kept the meme going that only a few objects were plundered. This loss is beyond description.

edit: grammar, punctuation, spelling

7. History will probably be referring to this the next few thousand years
Edited on Fri Jan-14-05 11:59 PM by htuttle
...In the same breath as the burning of the library at Alexandria. "The second destruction of Babylon", or something like that. Heck, people still talk about Napolean blowing the Sphinx's nose off, and he probably didn't even do that.

Hmm..isn't there something those fundies believe about Babylon being destroyed? Wonder if that had anything to do with the recent desecration it's gotten?

On the other hand: One of humanities earliest real cities? Paved over with gravel? Maybe it was the prophet Joni Mitchell, who foresaw all this when she sang: "They've paved Paradise, and put up a parking lot..."

This is all madness.

16. Nice post - full agreement here.
The Republican-Democratic invasion of Iraq has left a scar on history--first and foremost as the bootprint of exterminators, and secondly as vandals.

No honor or sense in any of it; but such is the work of barbarians.

12. I wonder if the world finally gets sick of * crap. they will invade us
to free us from an oppressive government. Like we said we were doing in Iraq. I wonder if the invading armies will use our sacred constitution as toilet paper, maybe their military will set up camp at Yellowstone and use the geysers as showers. Maybe they will topple the statue of Liberty and stick their flag there or maybe the will use the Grand Canyon as a military dump. Maybe they will allow our people to loot the national archives or the museum of natural history. Does * understand the implications of whats been and is being done? I'm trying to convey what is happening in Iraq to what it would be like if it happened to us here.

If you are hungry for "symbols",...try on the lives which were extinguished by HUMAN powers over which they had NO CONTROL, NO GUILT, NO FREEDOM to choose!!!

8. Our children will sing songs about us.
I think it was the vampire Richard Perle who said those words. Can't you just hear those songs?

The Bush legacy will make Nixon look like a true American Hero.

9. Taliban - BornAgain --- Same delusions - same acts
The monsters dumbfuck and his handlers have sent running rampant over over Iraq are no different than the most vile images we have of Genghis Khan (who was actually far smarter and more effective) or Nazi hordes marching through Europe. Whatever their self-images, whatever their claims to virtue and nobility, they bring destruction and the slaughter of innocents and devastation. Nothing good at all.

They are zealots.
They are are berserkers.
They are destroyers.

And they are doing the same here, bit by bit.

11. When any of our Democrats goes on TV and says it was the right thing.....
I want to scream and throw things at the TV. How dare they keep saying that? This war was a turning point for us, it was turning point for our country, and a turning point for the Democratic party.

We destroyed Fallujah for all intents and purposes, I understand...just tore it down. Yet I recently read an article by one of our Democrats about how necessary it was...it had to be done.

Our country is different now.
