Kuwaiti security forces have clashed with suspected Islamist militants twice in less than a week in the first major armed confrontation with suspected Al-Qaeda sympathisers in the emirate.
"A number of Saudi militants have in recent weeks fled to neighbouring Gulf states, especially Kuwait. Their number is not too large but they are dangerous elements," a Kuwaiti security source told AFP.
"Intelligence agencies in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states are currently coordinating in this respect. Contacts are more intense between Kuwaiti and Saudi agencies."
