Europe Must Work with Bush, Says Ex-Envoy

Europe must abandon its “schizophrenic” attitude to American power and work with President George Bush to tackle international problems, a former British ambassador to the United States urged today.

Sir Christopher Meyer said he believed that President Bush, who is being inaugurated in Washington later today, wants to pursue a more multilateral approach to global security issues in his second term in the White House.

That appeared to be the case even over Iraq, where the US-led invasion during President Bush’s first term badly damaged relations between Washington and several European governments.

Europe’s leaders would be unwise to pass over that opportunity, said Sir Christopher, who is now chairman of the Press Complaints Commission.

12. Why? The US is broke and is spending on credit. Its

military is tied up in futile invasions. As evidenced by its trade deficit, the US doesn't manufacture enough to meet its needs and relies on foreign nations for its supplies. The only thing it has going for it is its reputation, but that reputation is being frittered away.

Sounds like a weak sister to me.
