Governor calls 3 critics '3 Stooges'
SACRAMENTO – Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger called Attorney General Bill Lockyer, state Treasurer Phil Angelides and state schools chief Jack O'Connell "the Three Stooges" for criticizing his budget policies, The Sacramento Bee reported yesterday.
In an editorial board meeting Tuesday, Schwarzenegger also said the Democrats were focused on the "wrong things."
Yesterday, Senate Democratic leader Don Perata of Oakland criticized the governor for the "Three Stooges" remark and said it gives the public the impression they have entrusted serious problems to a governor who acts like a child.
Last year, Schwarzenegger, a Republican, made national news when he referred to state Democrats reluctant to pass his budget as "girlie men."
