Blair, Chirac, Schroeder talk Iraq
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/redir.php?jid=1150fed09a668f8cBERLIN, Germany -- German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, French President Jacques Chirac and British Prime Minister Tony Blair will meet in Berlin Saturday to seek common ground after their divisions over Iraq, German officials said.
The German government said in a statement that the three leaders, whose countries are all members of the U.N. Security Council, would meet for their mini-summit in Berlin on Saturday at 0930 GMT.
"The meeting serves to agree to common positions in foreign policy after there were divergent opinions in the run-up to the Iraq war," the statement said.
Blair's official spokesman told a briefing in London that the meeting would be a chance for a "fairly wide-ranging discussion on economic matters, and international affairs."
"Obviously Iraq will be discussed as will other European matters," the spokesman said, adding that Saturday's meeting would be "informal" and was called "by consensus rather than anybody talking the initiative
