The team from international human advocates Lawyers Without Borders will go to Libya next week to meet the medics, who were sentenced with a Palestinian doctor to death by firing squad last May.
The verdicts, based on confessions the nurses say were extracted by torture, drew angry reactions from Washington and Brussels and have hampered Libya's efforts to renew ties with the West after decades of diplomatic isolation. snip
He said the lawyers also wanted to participate in a civil case against Libyan guards who the nurses say tortured them into confessing to infecting the children on purpose. Two of the nurses also say they were raped by guards while in jail.
