U.S. Vetoes Resolution On Protection of Arafat
Edited on Tue Sep-16-03 04:04 PM by bobdole
U.S. vetoes UN resolution on Arafat

By Shlomo Shamir and Aluf Benn, Haaretz Correspondents, Haaretz Service and The Associated Press

UNITED NATIONS - The United States on Tuesday
vetoed a resolution put forward by Arab nations
demanding that Israel not harm or deport
Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat.

Eleven of the 15 Security
Council members voted in favor
while Britain, Germany and
Bulgaria abstained after hours
of consultations, The United
States and Syria, sponsor of
the resolution, were unable to
reach a compromise.

Council diplomats said Tuesday
that the Palestinian-backed draft resolution
demanding that the UN ensure Arafat's safety
would be seen only as a condemnation of
Israel.

5. Not in the least surprised
Though I am no friend of Arafat's and I would shed no tears over his demise.

But the problem is, now Imperial Amerika, which is in fact a Rogue Nation at the very beginning of True Infamy, is voting wil the barbarians, not on the side of civilizations.

Imperial Amerika, as it stands now would have voted AGAINST having the Nuremburg Trials.

That kind of says it all, doesn't it?

2. So what does this mean?
Are we authorizing Israel to execute Arafat like they discussed earlier this week?

21. That is precisely what it means...
It also means, in subtext, that no matter what outrageous action Sharon and his henchmen come up with, the U.S. will be there to shield them when they do it.

:puke:

It's also the best recruiting message Hamas and al-Qaeda could ever receive.

:scared:

3. US sanctions Israel's murder of Arafat...
Film at eleven.

If Hamas used the Bush doctrine of pre-emptive war, they would murder Sharon and those who harbor terrorists (Bush).

6. From your keyboard to God's monitor!

Now there's a reason to be mad at Old Europe.

If the US saved them from an evil regime, why the hell am I looking up and not seeing any French planes in our hour of need?

11. Careful what you wish for...
What if the invaders was as laughably untrustworthy and interested in "liberation" in the same ways Imperial Amerika is "liberating" Iraq?

Wouldn't you pick up your gun and perhaps even join with Freepers to defend our nation against the Jackboots of the Invaders and their Lies?

To be quite honest, I wouldn't trust it, and it's too early in the Bushevik Totalitarianism to hope for it.

25. But....
You're assuming that the Freepers would actually fight. So far all I've seen them do is wave flags and call anyone who disagrees with them traitors and unpatriotic.

I can honestly say that most of the neocons would become collaborators
in a minute, and Anthrax Coulter would be on her knees with her mouth
wide open. O'reily, Hannity, and Weiner would sell out in no time at all.

And the only Freepers that could be counted on to fight would be those that live in the rural areas of this country, those in the cities would come up with an invaders flag faster then a lightning
bolt.

18. Imagine if France had vetoed
the Iraq war, with 11 in favor, and 3 abstentions from, say, Syria, Russia and Germany!

They would be onstructionists of the first order. As it stands, it is unlikely that the Iraq war resolution had even six in favor (which is why, of course, it never took place). And, as it stands, we block a resolution aimed to prevent the state murder of a human being in an occupied territory.

Terrific....

20. Arafat isn't going anywhere.
He's just being used as a diversion, like always. He's Israel's Emmanuel Goldstein, and if they killed him, they'd have to go through the chore of creating another one.

22. Don't count on it...
If Israel kills Arafat, they won't have to work at "creating another one" -- they'll have more than they know what to do with, within days.

are just what the doctor ordered for bushco. When people are beginning to wake up to the lies and deception of this cabal the ensuing chaos and destruction will be a facile diversion.
