TOKYO (AP) - The dollar lost some of its New York gains against the Japanese yen in Asian trading Wednesday morning amid expectations that bullishness on the greenback was likely to be limited.
The dollar was trading at 103.81 yen in Tokyo morning trading, up 0.67 yen from late Tuesday but below the 104.23 yen it bought in late New York trading.
During the morning session in Asia, the euro fell to $1.2981 from $1.3057 late Tuesday. It rose to 134.80 yen from 134.60 yen.
The dollar strengthened overnight following the release of figures showing American consumer confidence rising for the second consecutive month in January.
In late New York trading, the British pound was at $1.8636, down from $1.8793 late Monday, while the dollar bought 1.1951 Swiss francs, up from 1.1851; and 1.2373 Canadian dollars, up from 1.2244.
