Million Chinese sign anti-Japan petition online
BEIJING (Reuters)

Six anti-Japanese activists planned to present the petition to the Japanese Embassy in Beijing on Thursday, Zhou Wenbo, a spokesman for the group, said.

The signature drive was launched by seven Chinese Web sites and signed by 1.12 million surfers within a month, Zhou said, a response which would be unprecedented in China.

''Japan may be a responsible member of the international community, but it has been very irresponsible towards Chinese nationals. We are very angry,'' Zhou, a 24-year-old software engineer, told Reuters.

Japan has been criticised and faces lawsuits over its abandonment of an estimated 700,000 chemical weapons in China. ---

1. Does a defeated Japanese Army
being bundled off to POW camps or repatriation actually " abandon " it's weapons ?

I'm not sure they had a lot of choice. Nor a lot of access to mao's China to do anything about it.
