Recall energizes Demos nationally
ANGER CAN BE POTENT ELECTORAL FORCE
By Jim Puzzanghera
Mercury News Washington Bureau

WASHINGTON - The California recall is fueling outrage among liberal activists nationwide, helping to fire up the Democratic Party's base earlier than usual heading into a presidential election, political organizers and analysts said.
Democrats are hoping that the recall will boost their chances at the polls in 2004, given that an angry party base has proven to be a potent political force in the past.
Two Democratic presidential candidates -- Howard Dean and U.S. Sen. Bob Graham -- have already taken the opportunity to appear with Democratic Gov. Gray Davis and denounce the recall. A third, Sen. John Kerry, is expected to do the same today.

1. Issa to Bush, November 3, 2004 - "Sorry you lost!"
"I guess I'm not getting my $2 million back now?"

2. This backlash is why the GOP does their dirty work in off election years
because they count so heavily on people's short memories. If the recall gets delayed until March, it will blow their game plan big time. They've been fairly successful in getting away with doing the bad stuff in off election years '95 (Contract On America). They'll fight like hell to keep the recall from happening in March because that's way too close to November for their comfort. Heaven forbid if people remember. Rehnquist is going to get leaned on very heavily in the next few days.

They also know that their cries of "move on, it's over" after the 2000 election were for this specific purpose. They are well aware that we have not "moved on" and the anger is simmering just below the surface. The recall is already bringing that out "prematurely" for the GOP's plans.

3. I'm glad to hear
Senator Kerry's coming. The article forgot to mention Sharpton's visit as well. We need ALL Democratic Presidential Primary contenders here and SOON.
