Syria, Libya listed as 'Rogue States'.
Washington - The Bush administration named Syria and Libya yesterday as "rogue states" whose weapons of mass destruction must not just be controlled but must be eliminated by whatever means necessary

<snip>

In what Rep. Gary Ackerman (D-Jamaica Estates) called "the axis of evil plus," Bolton testified that Syria and Libya had weapons of mass destruction programs that must be "rolled back" and eliminated. Two years ago, President George W. Bush named North Korea, Iran and Iraq under Saddam Hussein as the "axis of evil."

Bolton said diplomacy is the administration's preferred approach but that "every tool in our nonproliferation toolbox" was an option. Bolton refused to rule out "regime change" as an administration option in Syria.

His testimony bore the hallmarks of a struggle within the administration. Powell prefers persuasion to get Syria to stop supporting terrorists, pursuing weapons of mass destruction and allowing "volunteers" to enter Iraq to fight Americans. A hawk on Syria, Bolton pointedly emphasized Powell's position, exaggerating each point.

1. And how many of the hijackers of 911
came from Iran and Syria? When are we going to acknowledge the fact that Saudi Arabia has supported and apparently continues to support terrorist groups around the world?

And if we're talking about non-proliferation, when are we going to talk to Israel?

2. The only rogue state in the Middle East is Israel
An undemocratic apartheid and renegade government that possesses WMD, some of which were stolen from the US.

We need regime change in Jerusalem!

4. I beg to differ
The Syrians provide patronage and political, propaganda and operational support to at least 10 of the 35 terrorist groups (or more than 30%) appearing on the US State Department’s list of state sponsors of terrorism (as of April 1998). The ideology of these terrorist organizations calls for the destruction of Israel and they oppose the peace process, the Oslo Accords, the Palestinian Authority and Yasser Arafat.

As for Lybia, ask anyone in Lockerbie or a family member of those blown out of the sky by Lybian terrorists.

That's not rouge on their hands and faces...it's the blood of innocents and that makes them rogue.

5. Israel's government also opposes the Oslo Accords
I see no difference between the terrorism of Hamas, and the terrorism of the Occupation.

6. i listened to this last night on cspan
i was half-dead exhausted and i really thought it was a joke. it sounded like they were taking all the propaganda from iraq and simply inserted "syria." bush is back on crack again if he thinks that hes going to get 87 billion for iraq and then more money to start attacking syria.

15. Gosh, and after working so hard to get UN sanctions against Libya lifted
The US has managed--behind the scenes and abstaining in the Security Council vote--to get sanctions on Libya lifted. Which means those millions of dollars in Libyan funds that have been held in special accounts for victims of the Lockerbie bombing can now be paid out.

But once the check is cashed, ShrubCo is back to its usual tricks—-waving the bloody stick. Such honorable men.
