Democrats challenge Cheney's claim of severed ties to Halliburton

<snip>Speaking on US television on Sunday, Cheney said allegations of continuing financial ties to the company he once headed were little more than "political cheap shots."

"I have no financial interest in Halliburton of any kind and haven't had now for over three years," he said.

But Frank Lautenberg, a leading Senate Democrat, said Cheney's financial disclosure statements tell a different story.

"In 2001 and 2002 ... Cheney was paid almost as much in salary from Halliburton as he made as vice president," the New Jersey senator said.

2. Don't forget his unexercised stock options
Over 400,000 shares, all exchangeable at well below the current price of the stock.

4. Cheney claimed on Meet the Whore...
that he has zero finincial interests in Halliburton.

If he was given stock as "retirement" compensation and hasn't sold it all, he still has a stake in the company.

He's a proven liar. He told LIEberman in the debate that Halliburton didn't make any money off the gov't. Hah! Of course, Joe didn't challenge him at all. Even a un-wonk like me knew Halliburton had gov't contracts from the First Gulf War.

5. Wonder why they're not giving him a pass like they are on the WMDs?
I'll bet they'll give that up too. I think I'm going to be sick...

"September 16, 2003—Democrats in Congress have abandoned their efforts to investigate the White House's use of questionable intelligence information about Iraq's alleged stockpile of weapons of mass destruction, saying the issue has been "eclipsed" by President Bush's request for $87 billion from Congress to continue funding the war there.

David Helfert, a spokesman for Congressman David Obey, D-Wisconsin, who criticized the White House for relying too heavily on murky intelligence to get support for the war, said Friday that congressional Democrats would no longer pursue hearings on the intelligence matter."

We need to let these pink tutus know that just because they went on vacation the Misadministration didn't change and the same old lies continue. They need to stop selling out.

(I would post this in "Latest Breaking News", but it seems that I'm too new to post an original thread. My contribution not enough for DU? I really don't think that it is right that I donate to a site and follow all of the rules and still can't post to it. Bummer.):argh:
