Iraq not nuclear threat - scientist
Edited on Wed Sep-17-03 07:20 AM by emad aisat sana
<snip:times online>

Iraqi scientists have minimised the danger of terrorists using smuggled radioactive material from their country to build a dirty bomb. They said most of what was looted was low radiation and had been recovered. One of the scientists also said it was unlikely that Saddam Hussein revived efforts to build nuclear weapons after his programme was destroyed by UN teams in the wake of the 1991 Gulf War because his experts did not have the resources.

1. Many, including myself,
have been wondering why Saddam Hussein didn't avoid being attacked by just proving that Iraq isn't a nuclear threat. He should have invited as many inspectors as the UN cares to send to come to Iraq, and let them check everywhere with no exceptions.
Then I read this opinion that he got used to and rather liked being seen by his people and the world as the big powerful threat, and could't bear to "lose face."
