AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - An incomplete 1789 Beethoven piano concerto has been reconstructed by musicologists to create a piece making its world premiere at a Rotterdam concert hall next week.
The adagio, based on music and notes written by Ludwig van Beethoven as a young man, will be played by pianist Ronald Brautigam and the Rotterdam Chamber Orchestra at the Doelen Concert Hall in Rotterdam on Feb 1.
"This is the first time it will be played. It's got the same mood as the well-known third piano concerto," the orchestra's conductor Conrad van Alphen said on Friday.
The 8-minute piece is based on incomplete piano music and notes on musical accompaniment written by the German composer the year the French Revolution broke out. The music and notes were stored at London's British Museum.
