Rumsfeld cautions against pulling back military when "nose bloodied"
Funny. I ain't seen Rumheads nose bleeding. The bastard.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20030917/pl_afp/us_iraq_rumsfeld&cid=1521&ncid=1480

WASHINGTON (AFP) - With US forces facing mounting casualties in Iraq, US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said it was "unhelpful" if the world believes the United States will send its troops home whenever it gets its "nose bloodied."

"You know the old story in Chicago, that if you act like a doormat, people are going to wipe their feet on you," he told an audience at the National Defense University here.

Rumsfeld made no specific mention of the situation in Iraq, but he recalled that before taking office he had warned newly elected President George W. Bush of the danger of the United States being perceived as unwilling to accept casualties.

In his opinion, he said, it was "unhelpful ... if the world believed that every time we got our nose bloodied we would tuck in and come home."

1. As George Carlin once mocked:
"It's not manly to pull out, Bill."

2. Bloody noses? Mussed hair?
How about killed? Can we talk about people being killed in service of a lie, which engendered a misguided policy? Yeah, we'd much rather have the world think we're a bunch of bloodthirsty killers than back down when the lies are exposed. Terrific "logic" there, Mr. Rumsfeld.

By the way, have you and Crash Cart decided whether Saddam masterminded September 11 or not yet? You don't seem to have reached agreement on that point yet.

3. Makes sense...
Unlike almost every other member of the regime, Rumsfeld did, in fact, serve. He joined the Navy between Korea & Vietnam so he was untroubled by any actual combat experience.

But I've heard he wrestled for the Navy. So he may actually have gotten his nose bloodied!

Sounds like Coulter with her scorn for our soldiers in Iraq who've "gotten their hair mussed".

"We have to prove our national resolve to the Commies/Ragheads, so we must stay in Vietnam/Iraq until the job is done!"

5. And if you act like a bully, Rummy?
That's how we got "bloodied" in the first place.

6. "Nose bloodied".............
"Hair mussed", these chicken hawks sure are very liberal when it comes to the lives of America's fighting men and women. Don't these freakin' idiots ever stop to think before they open their gaping maws?

7. ...or "hair mussed".
Right, Ann?

Has ANYONE noted that she stole that line (as she so often does)?

Buck Turgidson in Dr Strangelove: "Mr. President, I'm not saying we wouldn't get our hair mussed. But I do say no more than ten to twenty million killed, tops. Uh, depending on the breaks."

Plagiaristic no-talent scum.

8. The conclusion drawn from VietNam
was that we ought not to get into these stupid wars,
BECAUSE it looks bad when you have to bail out. But Dumbsfeld
didn't want to hear that when it might have done some good.

His argument here is that because we have been stupid and forgot
our lessons, we must now continue being stupid, otherwise we will
look stupid, I mean "lacking in resolve".

10. What about bloodied leg and arm stumps?
Rumsfeld is treating Iraq like it's just a great big ole Fight Club.

11. "Bring it on", "dead-enders" "nose bleeding"--

What an A-hole! It's not his 19 yr old son or daughter that had
legs blown off, or who died a horrible death--in
a man-made hell, so that he and the Bush Admin can "desert-collect".

History will not be kind to these dark men and their dark "visions"
that destroyed America.

12. A lot of feet, legs and arms have been blown off, though
157 dead post "mission accomplished" on my last count. Rummy considers that "accomplishment" a feather in his cap. He's mentally ill and unfit for the job.

I'm from Chicago and I've never heard "the old story", or any derivative of it.

NNN? How about you?

17. Actual quote was:
"You know the old story in Chicago, I know it's Washington, but probably Chicago, that if you act like a doormat, people are going to .... going to wipe.... won't get fooled again."

become a political casualty of our Iraqi venture.

20. Funny thing is...he missed the other side of the coin...
...
"You know the old story in Chicago, that if you act like a doormat, people are going to wipe their feet on you," he told an audience at the National Defense University here.

And if you stand in the middle of a circle of kids out on the playground and point to each one calling each kid a pussy challenging them to a fight, sooner or later the one you have no interest in fighting will take you on.

Rummy still doesn't get the fact that his "War Light" concept has resulted in the Pimple Doctrine. By forcing not one, but two actions before we were completely prepared, we went in with essentially one front, allowing whoever we were after to escape. Once is a mistake, twice is a pattern of behavior.

The Pimple Doctrine tells us that there are two ways to approach a problem:
(1) Patience and proper treatment according to the case at hand, or (2) Place the cause of your problems between the equivalent of your thumb and forefinger and squeeze the shit out of it. You will either succeed or spread the problem wider and deeper and cause a more serious infection.

We have the Zit Squeezers at the helm.

Later,
JM

21. Well, our nose isn't just bloodied .. it is broken and we are at high
risk suffocating from air ways being obstructed, plus we need major surgery to restructure the nasal arch that has been shattered into a billion pieces! We may never be able to focus correctly again due to the offset this will cause to our eyes not to mention possible brain damage from all the hemorraging :( :hi:
