Approval rates for Dayton, Coleman drop (Dem Dayton At 43; 15pt Drop)

Minnesota Sens. Mark Dayton and Norm Coleman both took hits to their public images in the past year, with their job approval ratings falling below 50 percent, according to the latest Minnesota Poll.

Dayton, a Democrat who's up for reelection next year, took the heaviest blow: His approval rating declined by 15 points in a year, from 58 percent to 43 percent. The approval rating for Coleman, who just began his third year in office, fell by 7 points, from 54 to 47 percent.

Dayton's job approval decreased among all categories of Minnesotans, grouped by age, education, income, party and ideology, with the largest drop among men -- down 27 points -- and 18-24 year olds -- down 31 points. ...

The poll also found rising disapproval ratings for both Coleman and Dayton and that large numbers of Minnesotans have yet to form any opinion of their senators. While 24 percent disapprove of Dayton's performance, a third of his constituents said they don't have an opinion. Coleman had a slightly higher disapproval rating -- 27 percent -- while nearly a quarter -- 26 percent -- said they had no opinion of him.

(Note: On Oct. 23 2004, a St Paul Pioneer Press poll gave Dayton a 47% approval rating. Coleman was at 50.)

1. Keep working on Coleman.
Find out any facts you can on him and pass them around.

As reported in Raw Story and other publications: http://rawstory.com/exclusives/byrne/norm_coleman_featured_smile_124.htm

The pictures are BEYOND hideous. Don't look if you have a queasy tummy....

2. I've been donating to Dayton for over a year, but
he knows that numbers won't matter when the big money starts rolling in against him.

I had some doubts when he went to Washington; he was not very visible, especially when Paul Wellstone was the senior senator from Minnesota. In the last year, Dayton has been finding himself.

4. Well, fuck it. They think poll numbers are going to stop me from getting
Mark reelected? Yeah, right. Nice try. Drink Coke, play again.

7. America doesn't want and doesn't deserve honest, courageous people
in its government. They deserve the government they vote for. If these men are voted out because they dared to speak the truth to power and to try to educate the people about what is really going on, then so be it. They can leave knowing they did their best. A life of dedicated public service, including military service (a la Kerry) is not enough for evildoers of this nation.

8. we don't talk enough about the character
of the american people.
we talk about the politicians -- but in some ways that's a ghost, a creature not really there.

it's the people.

bush is creepy -- but the millions who vote for him are creepier.

the corporate oligarchy knows how to manipulate these folk -- and we need to learn how.

11. Good point, which leads to the FACT
That it's NOT the politicians and way too much time is being spent quibbling over them. I seriously believe it's past time for a party of the people, but very few in here can wrap their minds around the possibility. A brand new party with a strong agenda disassociated from the Dems who have a HORRIBLE record that I don't think they will EVER recover from. No real manipulation needed, just a fresh honest agenda that is in the interest of the working class and poor, we are, after all, the majority.

And sorry, but Dean is not going to save them. Jesus Christ himself couldn't save the Democratic Party at this point.

Utopian dreams maybe...Imagine.

9. Sen. Dayton is one of the most honest Senators in the nation.
We need to get him more visibility.
